Vancouver, British Columbia – In response to the oil spill emergency in English Bay this spring, the Vancouver Rowing Club (VRC), is dedicating the proceeds from this year’s Annual Summer Regatta and Lobster Bash July 10th through 12th to help protect Georgia Strait. The rain stopped, the fog burned off and we even got a little wind for the December 21st Polar Bear races. We had another great turnout with about 30 boats and their crews coming out. What a great way to wrap up 2014. The race committee set a QC, freighter, finish course for all divisions for the first start. Yes, we remembered. Wind! Again! So far, this polar bear series has seen more wind than the whole of last year’s series, and this is only the second day of racing. The committee boat, Beautiful Day, set up in it’s normal spot near QC. Soon 23 boats were circling around the start line, waiting for the start sequence.
